Used to dry dishes, clean your hands or clean some surfaces of the kitchen, kitchen towels are quickly stained and become a real fertile ground for germs. Fortunately, there are products that will help you clean and whiten them. We will tell you about it.
When cleaning cooking splatters or other dirt, kitchen tea towels quickly become impregnated with traces of oil and grease. For this reason, it is recommended to use several tea towels in the kitchen: one to dry your hands, another for dishes and a third to clean the kitchen counter. In this way, they will get dirty less quickly.
How do you clean and bleach kitchen towels?
There is an unexpected way to clean dirty kitchen towels. It is an effective alternative to normal laundry detergent and can be used during a normal washing cycle.
- Dishwasher tablets
Putting a dishwasher tablet in the washing machine can be a good idea to clean your appliance. However, it can also have a completely different use when it comes to laundry care. It is entirely possible to use it to clean kitchen towels, which are dirty and stained with fat. To do this, simply replace the normal detergent with a tablet and start the machine. However, it is recommended to set the appliance on the Cotton program at a temperature of 90 degrees to eliminate all bacteria. Note that the tablet can be placed directly inside the basket before starting washing. If you don’t want to machine wash your tea towels, dip them in a hot water bowl with dishwasher detergent.
Like dishwasher tablets, there are other ways to liven up kitchen towels and make them look bright again. As a general rule, a tea towel should be changed every 2 days. The cleaning frequency largely depends on the frequency of use.
- Marseille soap
Marseille soap can be used to remove grease stains from a kitchen towel. This natural and inexpensive product effectively removes dirt from fabrics. Just wet the towel and then rub the stained area with this product. It is therefore advisable to leave it on for about thirty minutes before rubbing again and rinsing with clean water.
