A clogged sink is something that happens often in the kitchen: it doesn’t happen every day, but from time to time, even if you’re careful. This is mainly because of food residues, which go down the pipes, but also because of greasy substances or soap residue, which sticks to the pipes and prevents proper drainage of the water. Or even the formation of limescale, especially when the water is very hard.

All this causes the periodic formation of obstructions, which are sometimes less serious than we might think, and there is not necessarily a need for the intervention of a plumber to make them disappear: a few simple DIY tips can suffice.

To avoid dealing with this problem too often, it is best to throw all food scraps in the trash, before putting pots and pans in the sink, and even when you need to soften food scraps charred in water, you will have to put them in the trash.

If you want to remove oils and grease, it is best to also use vinegar or citric acid, which will best dissolve this type of dirt, reducing the possibility of it subsequently sticking to the pipes. And it is better to always use filters and plugs, favoring thick ones, rather than letting everything fall back into the pipes.
