To understand why toilets get clogged, you need to know how dirty water is evacuated. At the bottom of the toilet bowl, water flows backwards and then back up to return to the drain pipe. This upward and downward flow constitutes the toilet siphon.
The siphon prevents bad odors from escaping the pipes thanks to a water tank located at the bottom of the toilet. This siphon has a diameter of between 70 and 80 millimeters. Then, when connected to the exhaust pipe, the diameter increases to 100 millimeters.
