Furthermore,  detergent and limescale residues  could invade it. These, over time, could become encrusted and give off  bad smells .

To prevent this from happening, the tray must be disinfected  at least once every two weeks . In this article I will explain all the steps to follow to obtain excellent results.

Safety first of all

The first thing to do is  unplug the power cord from the outlet . This operation is essential if you want to be sure you carry out any work safely.

Also, remember to use gloves and a mask, as you will be using  potentially irritating products , such as hydrogen peroxide.

Then remove the tray by pressing the appropriate lever or, depending on the model, by applying light pressure. Once removed, let’s see how to proceed.

How can you quickly disinfect the washing machine tub and remove black mold stains?

Prepare a mixture of 4 parts water and 1 part hydrogen peroxide. Pour it into the tray. It is a  liquid  that will help  disinfect the tray by eliminating mold and bad odors . Leave the tray to soak for at least a few hours for optimal effectiveness.

In the meantime, take a bowl and prepare a sort of degreasing paste by mixing 3 tablespoons of coarse salt and 3 tablespoons of  dishwasher liquid . When the mixture is smooth and grainy, take an old toothbrush. Rub the entire surface of the tray vigorously, paying particular attention to the areas most affected by stains. The tray will look  like new  after a few strokes of the toothbrush.

If the result is not satisfactory, repeat the cleaning operation from the beginning.
