Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture becomes smooth and moldable.

2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Take small portions of the peanut butter mixture and shape them into egg-like forms, placing them on the prepared baking sheet. You should be able to make around 12-16 peanut butter eggs, depending on the size you prefer.

3. Once all the eggs are shaped, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and let the eggs chill for about 30 minutes to firm up.

4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval. If the chocolate seems thick, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable shortening to help thin it out and make it easier to coat the peanut butter eggs.

5. Take one peanut butter egg at a time and dip it into the melted chocolate, making sure to completely coat it. You can use a fork or a candy dipping tool to help with the coating process. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off, and then place the coated egg back on the lined baking sheet.

6. Repeat the dipping process with the remaining peanut butter eggs. Once all the eggs are coated, place the baking sheet back in the refrigerator to allow the chocolate to set and harden. This usually takes about 1-2 hours.

7. Once the chocolate coating is firm, your homemade peanut butter eggs are ready to be enjoyed! You can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

That’s it! You now have a delicious batch of homemade peanut butter eggs to savor. Enjoy!
