Baking soda, liquid detergent and alcohol
Nothing beats this mix of ingredients to remove dirt from white socks or dirty rags and rags. For this you will need:
- 2 litres of warm water
- ½ cup of baking soda
- ½ cup of liquid laundry soap
- ½ cup of alcohol
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and soak your clothes in this solution and leave it for half an hour. Then wash them as usual.
You can also add washing powder or Marseille soap to baking soda to whiten clothes. To do this, pour hot water into a bowl and add some washing powder and 3 tablespoons of baking soda and soak your clothes in this mixture. Once the water has cooled, rinse your clothes and wash them normally.
Chemical yeast
Like baking soda, baking powder has a bleaching action and has the same properties as the famous white powder. Just add a sachet of baking powder to the usual dose of detergent in the detergent drawer of your washing machine.

Also called hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen peroxide has many uses for bleaching clothes and removing yellow stains from pillows . To use it, you will need:
- 2 litres of hot water
- 1 tablespoon of liquid detergent
- 2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide
In a bowl, mix everything together and soak the clothes in this solution. Leave for 20 minutes before rinsing and washing as usual.

If you don’t have all these ingredients on hand, lemon can be just as effective, even on its own. In the detergent drawer of your washing machine, pour the juice of a lemon. This trick not only makes white linen brighter, but also gives your clothes a subtle, pleasant scent.
Another trick is to dry clothes in the sun. This technique, which couldn’t be more natural, is effective thanks to the ultraviolet rays that eliminate the molecules that cause the greyness of the white.
