If you have dirty and tarnished tiles that have lost their shine, don’t worry! You can bring them back to life and make them look as good as new. And the best part is, you don’t need expensive chemicals to do it.

My grandmother was an expert when it came to cleaning tiles. She had a few tried and tested secrets that I’m going to share with you. These methods are simple, effective, and don’t require a lot of effort.

1. Linseed Oil for Extra Shine
Terracotta, cement, and ceramic tiles often lose their shine over time. But there’s a natural ingredient that can bring back their luster – linseed oil. All you need to do is apply a few drops of linseed oil on a clean cloth and gently rub it on the tiles. Be careful not to use too much oil, as it can make the floor slippery. Let the oil soak into the tiles and dry. You can reapply it if needed. Your tiles will shine like never before!

2. Potato Cooking Water for Grease Removal
Next time you boil potatoes, don’t throw away the cooking water. Instead, use it to clean your tiles. The starch in the potato water helps absorb grease and dirt from the surface. This method is particularly effective for maintaining the shine of your tiles. Use the potato cooking water once a month to keep your tiles looking spotless.

3. Black Soap for a Natural Clean
Black soap is a versatile cleaning agent that works wonders on tiles, linoleum, and even parquet flooring. It’s a degreaser and disinfectant, making it perfect for getting rid of dirt and grime. To use black soap, mix it with a liter of water in a bucket. Grab a mop and gently scrub each floor. Not only will your floors be clean, but they’ll also have a beautiful shine that you won’t be able to resist.
