HOW TO FIX COLORS ON FABRICS WITH NATURAL REMEDIES

Remember, however, to always use cold water and never hot water: hot water, in fact, is another cause of color loss.

This treatment is pre-washing and is great for both black and colored garments.

Rock salt

To brighten the color of clothes, you can also choose to use simple coarse table salt. Similar to vinegar, salt is able to make colors brighter.

Then pour 2 tablespoons of coarse salt into a basin containing about 2 liters of cold water.

At this point, immerse your garment inside the mixture and let it soak for about 1 hour.

Finally, rinse and proceed with normal hand washing.

For a more effective effect, you can also combine the action of vinegar with salt. Then add a cup of white vinegar and voila: your clothes will immediately be brighter!

An old grandmothers’ secret to keep fabrics from fading is to use baking soda and bay leaves.

All you need to try this remedy is 10 bay leaves and 4 tablespoons of baking soda.

Combine them in a pot of water and bring it to a boil.

Let it cool for another 20 minutes, then pour the contents of the pot into a basin and soak your garments.

How to prevent fabrics from fading
We have, so far, seen how to fix the color on the fabrics of our clothes with some natural ingredients. Let’s see, now, some tips to follow to prevent laundry from fading.

Doing separate washes
First, we recommend that you do separate washing of new garments. In fact, during the first wash, colored garments may lose their color.

If you have noticed, therefore, that a garment has faded during the first wash, it is likely that it will tend to lose color again. Therefore, wash it yourself whenever possible.

In particular, there are fabrics that are more prone to fading in the first few washes, such as cotton and silk.

Adjust the water temperature
Another very important expedient to avoid fading is to always wash colored garments at medium or low temperatures. In short: in cold water.

In the case of particularly problematic garments, we limit washing above 40 degrees. Hot water, in fact, promotes color dispersion.

Sort by color
Finally, to prevent colored clothes from fading, it is advisable to wash garments together by color.

Thus, blues with blues, reds with reds, etc. In this way you will prevent some garments from staining other garments and fading.

The dyes most at risk are the red, green and blue ones; so sort these colors especially well.
